Work with us

Nordland Hospital offers varied clinical work, professional development, and a modern working environment in the north of Norway.

About Nordland Hospital

Nordland Hospital is located just north of the Arctic Circle, with facilities in three locations spanning both urban and rural communities. We are committed to equal opportunities and employ a highly skilled and diverse workforce.

As the second-largest hospital in Northern Norway, Nordland Hospital combines a broad range of clinical services with a collaborative and accessible working environment. We are a modern teaching hospital with approximately 5,000 employees and several hundred students, serving a population of 140,000.

Our locations

The main general and psychiatric hospitals are located in Bodø, the administrative centre of Nordland County. In addition, we operate two local hospitals serving the Lofoten and Vesterålen regions.

Patient care and research

We provide specialist healthcare services in both somatic and mental health care. Our international workforce includes professionals from Norway and more than 40 other countries, contributing to a diverse and inclusive environment.

Research is a key priority. We support a number of active ph.d.-candidates and participate in research projects at both national and international levels. Our researchers contribute regularly to scientific publications and collaborative studies across a range of disciplines.

The hospital maintains its own library, offering access to a wide range of international journals and research resources, supported by experienced library staff.

Learning resources and quality

Patient safety and quality improvement are central to our work. Our efforts in these areas have been recognised through national awards and continuous quality development initiatives.
